Admissions

Pre-Prep | Junior School | Senior School | Sixth Form

Ashville College is an academically selective school, but we also encourage our students to develop their individual interests and aptitudes. Entrance to each of the schools is outlined below:

The Pre-Prep School

Children enter Pre-Prep as day pupils in the September following their fourth birthday. Most pupils go into the Reception class, but where places exist we will accept children for any year of entry.

Entry to Pre-Prep follows assessment tests and an informal interview with the Head of Pre-Prep School.

The Junior School

Most children enter Junior School in Year 3 (in the September after their seventh birthday) as day pupils, but whenever possible we will accept applicants for other years of entry. We accept boarding pupils into Year 5 and above. Admission is based on assessment tests, KS1 SATs and an informal interview with the Head. Whenever possible we like children to spend a day in school so that we can observe them in both a classroom and a social environment and they can enjoy the Ashville experience.

If your application is successful, we will offer your child a definite place for September entry. At this point, you will be asked to confirm your acceptance and pay the deposit of £250 for day pupils and £500 for boarders.

The Senior School

We are as flexible as possible on entry. Although the principal assessment period is January and most students enter in Year 7, we consider prospective students at other times of the year. Students take an exam (maths, English and non-verbal reasoning) in the morning and are interviewed by the Headmaster or a senior teacher. In the afternoon they get involved in a range of activities. They have a good day and get to know the school and its facilities, and we get a chance to observe their interpersonal skills. Overseas applicants will sit the entrance examination and be interviewed in their own country.

If your child’s application is successful, we will offer a definite place for September entry. At this point, you will be asked to confirm your acceptance and pay the deposit of £250 for day pupils and £500 for boarders.

The Sixth Form

Admission to the Sixth Form is dependant on your performance at GCSE (or equivalent) plus an interview with the Headmaster. If your application is successful, we will offer you a definite place for September entry. At this point, you and your parents/guardians will be asked to confirm your acceptance and pay the deposit of £250 for day pupils and £500 for boarders.
