Curriculum
Pupils follow a three-year foundation course which includes all the major academic subjects together with practical involvement in Computer Studies, Home Economics, Music, Design, Drama and Technology. They then begin a two-year course leading to GCSE in which English, Maths, a Modern Language and Science are compulsory. In total, pupils take between eight and ten subjects at GCSE.
Information for Year 10 Pupils
Pupils in Year 10 have the opportunity to choose between subjects and start to focus their education towards their particular interests. They will start a two-year course leading to GCSE examinations. It is impossible to continue with all subjects in the curriculum and GCSE courses often include an assessment of course work as well as an examination and this makes extra demands on their time.
We have created a booklet which provides curriculum information in more detail together with helpful advice on choosing your GCSE subjects. The booklet can be viewed online by clicking on this link: Year 10 Options Booklet
