The department, with the help of a number of non-specialist colleagues, is responsible for the teaching of curricular physical education and games for both the Senior and Junior Schools, as well as the teaching of the popular GCSE and AS/A2 PE courses.

The department also leads the extra-curricular programme for all the major school sports. Each member of staff in the department has an overall responsibility for a sport in their specialist area, as well as responsibility for individual sports teams.

In delivering the sports programme the school benefits from excellent facilities and the support of a hard working grounds staff. Our facilities include a 30metre indoor swimming pool, 2 Sports Hall, 2 squash courts, Multi-gym and extensive playing fields and surfaces for Netball, Rugby, Hockey, Athletics, Rounders and Cricket.
